The MaxSeal security panel is a composite fabricate with several components held together by nylon ratchet rivets. This method of construction allows for the materials to expand and contract independently of each other, these components are not glued together. The panel is fabricated in this way so that there is minimal change to the shape of the panel in environments of extreme heat and cold. This is important because often the temperature inside the house often varies greatly from the outside. The panel rivets have a slight profile to keep the panel from slamming downward, which would cause stress on the frame of the pet door.

You will notice in your instruction packet that we suggest that you slightly pull the panel toward you as you slide in and remove the security panel to clear the profile of these rivets. Sometimes when this is not done, the rivets can catch on the frame and even break off.

This is a fail safe to guard against the panel dropping with force and damaging your pet door.

Security Boss includes extra rivets with every MaxSeal purchase, but we do offer additional replacement packages of 8 in your choice of white or black to match you security panel.

Note: If you are having problems with rivets breaking, try gently tilting the panel towards you as you slide in and remove the panel from the pet door.
